Making a difference in Sao Paulo, Brazil: special donation helps The Salvation Army feed the hungry

April 5, 2013

An official ceremony was held last month at The Salvation Army headquarters in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It was held in celebration of the donation of a brand new Disaster Response Unit (DRU) from FedEx. The DRU is a custom made canteen truck designed to help feed the hungry both in times of disaster and throughout the year.

In addition to the truck donation, FedEx Brazil manager Eduardo Mezei made a check presentation for $10,000 from FedEx to The Salvation Army to help them with their efforts to serve those in need.

Immediately following the donation, FedEx team members accompanied the DRU to the Agua Fria Community in Cubatão, a port area severely affected by summer storms and floods. There they helped provide food and water to displaced families.

This DRU was the 16th emergency response vehicle that FedEx has donated to The Salvation Army worldwide. Others have gone to locations in the Mexico, Puerto Rico, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United Sates.
