FedEx Express Canada Joins Forces with AMBER Alert Ontario
Ontario AMBER Alert Program Will Broadcast
Child-Abduction Alerts Directly to Couriers
TORONTO, August 29, 2017 – FedEx Express Canada, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), announced today that its couriers, social media channels, and internal communications will now retransmit active AMBER Alert broadcasts to its 6,500 Canadian-based employees, including its almost 3,000 couriers.

The Ontario AMBER Alert Program is a voluntary cooperative plan between the Ontario Association of Broadcasters, law enforcement agencies, and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. The program is used to alert the public in child abduction cases where police believe the child is in danger of bodily harm or death.
When an AMBER Alert is activated, the police count on thousands of eyes watching for victims, suspects, or suspects’ vehicles.
“The AMBER Alert program has proven to be an extremely valuable and successful tool in helping law enforcement services across the country locate abducted children,” said Bryan Larkin, chief of police, Waterloo Regional Police and co-chair of the Ontario AMBER Alert Steering Committee. “We are extremely proud to have FedEx Express Canada join the AMBER Alert Program as we collectively share these very important messages. Anytime the AMBER Alert Program can be expanded to include a larger audience is beneficial, since it means more eyes are out there helping us and, more importantly, children and their families.”
Should an abduction occur that meets the criteria of an AMBER Alert, the alert will be broadcast directly to FedEx Express Canada through a special communications protocol. This protocol ensures the broadcast is sent directly to the company’s couriers via their mobile “Power Pads”, the handheld instruments customers routinely use to sign for a parcel delivery. FedEx Express Canada will also rebroadcast AMBER Alerts through their Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as on internal video screens.

About the Ontario AMBER Alert Program
The Ontario AMBER Alert is a warning system that quickly alerts the public of an abducted child who may be in danger. The main objective of the AMBER Alert is always the safe return of the child. The Ontario Provincial Police facilitate the program within the province, but the program is available for all police services in Ontario. AMBER Alerts are distributed via cable and satellite companies, radio and television stations, video-on-demand services, social media and SMS text messages.
