As part of this year’s Annual Report, we looked at trends in global trade and how they affect FedEx. It’s clear that we’ve reached a tipping point in how the world works. Did you know that the largest economy in the world is no longer the economy of any one country? It’s the economy of global trade of goods and services. After a year of transition, this is a defining moment for FedEx. During 2011, an improved economy, robust customer demand and decisive actions to grow our business increased volumes and yields across all FedEx transportation segments. Revenues reached nearly $40 billion, a 13 percent year-over-year increase, and earnings per share grew more than 20 percent year over year. We are reaping the benefits of strategies we executed in tougher times.
