For 35 years, Boeing 727 aircraft were a reliable workhorse for the world’s largest express transportation company. Now, the venerable 727 narrow-body freighter closes an enduring chapter in aviation history as FedEx becomes the last major carrier to retire the aircraft from service. The retirement is part of our aircraft modernization strategy.

Thousands of them, to be exact.Trees for Troops brings together FedEx, the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation and tree farmers across America to transport thousands of real Christmas trees to U.S. military service members stationed overseas, as well members of the armed forces and their families on military bases in the U.S.

During the holidays, we often hear the Peak shipping season referred to as our “Super Bowl”.Well, when the big game comes to your hometown, that term becomes larger than life. Indianapolis recently hosted Super Bowl XLVI and FedEx played a major role delivering the biggest game of the year. Planning begins months in advance and impacts all operations. Here’s a behind the scenes look at how we delivered the Super Bowl:

During our busiest time of the year, we’re not too busy to show our appreciation to the military men and women who serve our country. As part of Trees for Troops, over 17,000 live trees donated by tree growers around the country through the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation are being delivered. Destinations include more than 60 military bases throughout the U.S. and installations in Kuwait, Spain, and Bahrain. Jason Case, a Senior Security Specialist in Columbus, Ohio is one of many FedEx employees who make this program possible by helping at distribution sites.

Over 50 FedEx team members joined Keep Indianapolis Beautiful to help restore and beautify the Pogue’s Run watershed on the Eastside of Indianapolis. As part of the corporation’s EarthSmart Outreach program, FedEx employees in twelve cities have teamed with local nonprofit agencies for a day of service addressing pressing urban environmental challenges.
