Back to School – the Wake Forest MBA Marketing Summit
Oh – the life of a student! I’m at the age where I can look back with nostalgia on my days as a student. I had a great, memorable experience while a student at Notre Dame (undergrad) and Georgia Tech (grad school) – even the all nighters!
This weekend I have the opportunity to represent FedEx at the 22nd Annual Wake Forest MBA Marketing Summit. It is an MBA and undergraduate marketing case competition where top schools compete and are challenged by a 36 hour time constraint (speaking of all nighters) to develop solutions and recommendations to real-world business issues facing the case sponsor.
This year the MBA case sponsor is Hanesbrands. The teams will present their recommendations to a panel of corporate executive judges where a winner will be awarded. I will be serving as a judge of the MBA competition. The competing schools are: University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business, University of Michigan, London School of Business, George Washington University, University of Chicago, University of California at Los Angeles, Brigham Young University, and Wake Forest University. I have done my homework and read up on the case and it will be interesting to hear the team’s recommendations. I expect great solutions from the students and I suspect Hanesbrands will be taking pieces of each teams recommendations to test and implement.
In addition to my judging responsibilities, I am honored that Wake Forest asked me to speak during a networking lunch associated with the Marketing Summit. I will be speaking to the students on Marketing as the force behind executing strategy and business transformation. I am excited about the weekend to get back into an academic setting and have the opportunity to judge the MBA presentations and engage with top student minds. I am always on the lookout for top MBA talent to join FedEx, maybe I will find a few bright minds to join the FedEx team!
