Be the Difference: Learn
Several months ago, I was approached about leading FedEx Cares Week for the U.S. and international markets. Without hesitation I accepted the call, knowing that the next few months would be challenging, yet ultimately rewarding.
Being immersed in this project has allowed me to learn a lot about our relationship with the United Way. We have worked with the United Way for over 30 years, and in 2009 FedEx gave more than $15 million to support the work of United Way agencies’ across the country.
Yes, I have learned so much, but not just about the United Way. Since joining FedEx in June 2007, I’ve seen evidence that FedEx and its employees are committed to serving our communities and delivering on the Purple Promise externally as well as internally. But my direct involvement in the 2010 FedEx Cares Week program has allowed me to see the depth and scope of the commitment by our people. I’ve worked with dozens of market coordinators for FedEx Cares events who have spent countless hours making this week of service a success. I’ve spoken with hundreds of team members eagerly seeking ways to provide their time and service to communities in need. From Memphis to Shanghai, FedEx employees are always eager to serve.
FedEx is truly a winning team because we put the needs of others ahead of our own. I am proud to work alongside you.
