FedEx Helps to Deliver a Healthier Future with Food & Friends for the Washington, D.C. Community
Recently, nearly 30 FedEx volunteers joined Food & Friends in Washington, D.C. to celebrate FedEx’s “40 years of delivering a better future.” Through their nearly 90 hours of volunteer service that day, the volunteers were also able to ensure Food & Friends could keep our promise of providing specialized nutritious meals to our clients living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses. The helping hands and willing hearts of FedEx staff prepared and packed over 2,500 client meals including chopping 150 pounds of cabbage!
Since 2007, the generosity of FedEx has allowed Food & Friends to carry out our mission of delivering meals and hope to clients in a 5,300 square mile area of the greater Washington region. The over $165,000 in funding received from FedEx makes possible our community work and this year also enabled us to purchase a badly needed new delivery van. FedEx has also supported Food & Friends with over 200 volunteers providing more than 600 hours of community service.
Deliveries come in all shapes and sizes, and Food & Friends is honored to count FedEx as a supporter helping to create a better future for our clients and our community.
