FedEx Introduces FedEx Mobile for iPhone and iPod touch
Over the weekend we launched FedEx Mobile for iPhone on the Apple App store. It’s a free application that allows users to track packages using the iPhone and iPod touch.
This mobile application is part of a strategy to provide customers with the information needed to manage their shipments however and wherever they do business. The mobile platform is real important to FedEx. In fact, mobile tracking activity is up 520% year over year. And, we understand Mobile phone users are now beginning to shop using their devices. Forrester Research cites that mobile users aged 18-41 are beginning to utilize their cell phones to buy products online.
How it works
FedEx Mobile for iPhone requires users to have an active FedEx and Apple iTunes account. Once the application is validated, users can access detailed tracking information, tag shipments of importance and provide shipments with unique nicknames so users don’t have to remember tracking numbers. Packages that are shipped via FedEx accounts automatically populate and update the FedEx Mobile application.
The FedEx Mobile for iPhone application provides direct links to mobile.fedex.com for users to find FedEx Office and FedEx Express drop-off locations, rate package shipment costs and create shipping labels using the iPhone’s Safari web browser.
FedEx Mobile for iPhone is available for free from Apple’s App store on iPhone and iPod touch or at itunes.com/appstore.
For those of you who don’t have an iPhone or iPod touch, but are on a web-enabled mobile device customers can access tracking information on any wireless device with internet access at mobile.fedex.com. The FedEx Mobile platform hosts over 20 thousand users per day.
