FedEx Trade Networks Celebrates Riverview Solar Technology Park Opening
Yesterday was an extraordinary day in Tonawanda, N.Y., as we officially celebrated the grand opening of the FedEx Trade Networks facility at Riverview Solar Technology Park. It was amazingly gratifying to see all of the officials, developers and customers on hand and inspiring to see all of the team members, who played such an integral role in seeing this important initiative through.
At FedEx, we continue to look for innovative ways to conserve energy in our business operations and this new facility marks another milestone. Limiting our ecological impact is important to us so we can help preserve the environment and the communities we operate in.
Our move into this extremely progressive facility, New York’s first solar-ready business park, also serves as an example of our adherence to the FedEx EarthSmart program, designed with the intention to integrate advanced green practices into the way we work and the services we offer. And we couldn’t have been more honored than to have our Chairman, Fred Smith, at the celebration to see firsthand how EarthSmart is having a real impact here in Western New York.
During the event, I had the opportunity to showcase our energy savings dashboard that translates energy savings into measurable energy equivalents, whether it’s tons of CO2 saved, gallons of gas saved or the number of trees conserved. We can see how this investment is making a difference on a daily basis. It is truly an exceptional way to remind team members of the important part they are playing in our sustainability efforts.
