Making “Canada’s Game” More Accessible
In Canada #WeAreWinter. That was the incredibly popular rallying cry for our Canadian Olympic team during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
And while hockey and skating is a tremendous source of national pride for our country, it is very expensive, and many parents cannot afford to register their kids or pay for equipment.
FedEx Express Canada wants to help remove barriers to hockey and skating by providing skates and equipment to Canadian kids in need, which is why we teamed up with Skate To Great.
Skate To Great is an organization that collects new and used hockey and figure skates – along with equipment such as pads, sticks and helmets – for local schools, programs and charities across Canada that need them.
FedEx provides funding and transportation support for Skate To Great programs. Over the last couple years, I am proud to say that we have helped Skate To Great collect and distribute thousands of pairs of skates and hockey equipment to charities in communities across Canada, including Courage Canada, Big Brothers Big Sisters chapters in PEI, Toronto and Barrie, Sport Central in Edmonton and KidSport in Calgary.
At FedEx Express Canada, we believe that every Canadian kid should have the opportunity to skate. Read more about Skate to Great at www.skatetogreat.org.
