Overcoming Transportation Needs in India: FedEx Team Members Help Improve the Chennai Public Bus System

In March 2014 FedEx hosted a group of engineers from a non-profit organization called EMBARQ for a week long training event at our headquarters in Memphis. We shared our transportation expertise with EMBARQ engineers from India, Mexico and Brazil. We also shared some other skill sets with the participants, who are called FedEx Fellows. The mission of EMBARQ is to improve quality of life in cities by providing sustainable urban transport and urban planning solutions.

How FedEx makes walking in Memphis – and around the world – safer for children

Fifteen years ago, the FedEx Global Citizenship team discovered a unique nonprofit called Safe Kids Worldwide (known then as the National Safe Kids Campaign). Their mission is to help prevent childhood injuries. With tens of thousands of vehicles on the world’s roadways and with safety a central value of the company, we approached Safe Kids about developing a child pedestrian safety campaign with support from FedEx.

EMBARQ and India’s Urban Future

Ashwin Prabhu is an urbanist based in EMBARQ India’s Bangalore office.  In November, Ashwin and eight of his colleagues from the United States, Brazil, Mexico and India visited FedEx global headquarters to attend a week-long leadership training program hosted by FedEx.  The leadership training program is just one component of a FedEx grant supporting EMBARQ’s efforts to promote sustainable transport in cities around the world.
