FedEx Express announced today that it is beginning construction on a new state-of-the-art temperature controlled facility and heavyweight pickup and delivery operation at the FedEx Express World Hub in Memphis, TN. The 88,000 square-foot facility will interface directly with Memphis hub operations, providing greater efficiency for shipments transiting the FedEx Express network, as well as enhanced handling of customers’ cold chain shipments.

I had the opportunity to attend the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Time and Temperature Task Force (TTTF) meeting this October in Geneva, Switzerland. I had already participated in such a meeting in Montreal, Canada, in 2011 and knew what to expect.

In November, Ashwin and eight of his colleagues from the United States, Brazil, Mexico and India visited FedEx global headquarters to attend a week-long leadership training program hosted by FedEx.
