FedEx Celebrates Diversity at Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society 2009
DEAUVILLE, France, October 15, 2009 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and founding member of the “Diversity Club for Business”, reinforces its commitment to promoting diversity in the workplace at the fifth annual Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society. The event is due to take place on 15-17 October in Deauville, and takes the theme “Think again, think ahead!"
This year, the Women’s Forum launches the first “Diversity for Business” effort aimed at getting companies involved in promoting diversity and identifying best practices.
For FedEx, the origins, skills and experiences of each employee combine to create a stronger company. For several decades now FedEx has made diversity central to its corporate culture and considered it to be a vital source of competitive advantage in a constantly evolving global market.
Women and ethnic minorities account for 38.6% of FedEx’s management around the world. In France, FedEx signed the Diversity Charter in 2005, and in 2006 received the “Diversity Grand Prize” in the “Partnership” category, awarded by the Ministry for the Promotion of Equal Opportunities.
To mark the fifth edition of the Women’s Forum, the “Diversity Club for Business” has joined forces with the Boston Consulting Group to conduct a study on diversity at work. This study aims to understand how diversity can constitute a competitive advantage by showcasing concrete case studies and best practice in companies. The study will be officially launched in the framework of the Women’s Forum.
The “Diversity Club for Business” will have a display at the Forum in a space dedicated to diversity where two conference-debates will also take place. On October 16, Nathalie Amiel-Ferrault, Managing Director Communications and Brand FedEx Express Europe, Middle East and Africa, will share the company’s vision and concrete achievements on the theme of “Diversity for superior service.”
“For FedEx, diversity is a key value. The Diversity Club is a fantastic opportunity to promote diversity and discuss the various initiatives implemented within companies. We are proud to contribute to this new project and be able to share our experience and reflections at the forthcoming Women’s Forum”, said Nathalie Amiel-Ferrault.
