FedEx Express – 5th Best Employer in Belgium

March 10, 2005

Brussels, Belgium – March 10, 2005 — FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company, has been rated one of Belgium’s best employers following a comprehensive survey of its staff as part of the Great Place to Work ® competition organised by the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School. FedEx Express finished in fifth place.

FedEx Express in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), is headquartered in Brussels. In addition, the company operates stations in Melsbroek, Ghent and Antwerp. In total, FedEx Express employs 718 people in Belgium.

"Our employees are the reason FedEx Express is a great company," FedEx Express EMEA President, Robert W. Elliott said. "The company has invested heavily in Belgium and it’s pleasing to see that our outstanding employees have recognised this by rating us so highly in the Great Place to Work ® survey."

"This is the first time we have entered the competition in Belgium and FedEx Express is the only express transportation company to make the top 20 Great Place to Work ®. I am especially pleased that our employees rated us highest for the fair way in which FedEx Express treats them."

Becoming an ’employer of choice’ is a priority for FedEx Express in every country in which it operates. "Providing a safe and enjoyable workplace, adhering to high ethical standards and building great team spirit translates into employees who feel pride in their work and will do "whatever it takes" to meet our customers’ expectations," Elliott said.

Managing Director, Operations, Benelux, Patrick Stienlet, said: "FedEx Express can offer a great career path. Many of FedEx Express’ managers in Belgium – myself included – started off as couriers or handlers. We encourage staff to seek promotion and to broaden their understanding of the company’s business profile."

"In addition to scoring highly in fairness, we also rated highly in camaraderie and pride," Stienlet continued. "FedEx Express is a very inclusive company – we employ people from many different cultures – and we continually invest in workplace safety as well as training to ensure our employees excel in their roles."
