She is succeeding David L. Cunningham Jr., who will return to FedEx headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee to become chief operating officer. At the same time, Kevin O’Hearn will take up Karen Reddington’s previous role as vice president, FedEx Express, South Pacific beginning in December.

In her new role, Karen Reddington will lead the overall planning and implementation of corporate strategies and operations across more than 30 markets and territories that make up the APAC region. She will manage more than 18,000 employees.  Kevin O’Hearn will manage corporate strategies and operations in the South Pacific region, which is managed as a sub-division of APAC, alongside the North Pacific region.  He will oversee almost 6,000 employees across Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

“I’m delighted that Karen Reddington is taking over the reins as APAC president,” said David Cunningham, president, FedEx Express, Asia Pacific. “Karen is a veteran of FedEx with strong leadership and understanding of the business. Her expertise and proven track record will be a great asset in her new leadership role. I’m also pleased that Kevin O’Hearn will take over in Karen’s previous role.  He has more than two decades of logistics industry experience under his belt, which will be invaluable in a region that is home to some of the world’s fastest-growing economies.”

Karen Reddington joined the company in 1997, as an operations research advisor in Hong Kong. Following a series of promotions in the intervening years, she took on the role of vice president, FedEx Express, South Pacific, in 2011. Kevin O’Hearn joined FedEx Express in 1990 and held various sales management posts across Asia from 1992.  He most recently served as vice president, Asia Pacific Global Sales & Solutions and South Pacific Sales, where he was responsible for the overall vision and leadership for the FedEx Express South Pacific sales team.

FedEx is powered by its people-first philosophy and has a long-standing practice of developing talent from within.  Globally, more than half of the FedEx management team has risen through the ranks of the company. These include FedEx Express Asia Pacific president David Cunningham, who began his career sorting and loading packages in the Company’s Memphis hub, and David Bronczek, chief executive officer of FedEx Express, who began his career as a courier.
