FedEx inspires entrepreneurial spirit among Vietnamese students
Ho Chi Minh City, June 9, 2012 The International Trade Challenge, a program designed to inspire and educate young entrepreneurs, kicked off on June 9 with a workshop attended by around 24 students in Ho Chi Minh City. A second workshop was held in Hanoi on June 11.
This is the first year that FedEx Express has sponsored the FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (FedEx/JA ITC) in Vietnam. The program aims to help students gain a better understanding of international trade, as well as to enhance their presentation skills and nurture an entrepreneurial spirit.
At the workshops 51 high school students from 5 secondary schools learned about the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and international trade from industry experts. Following the workshops, students were invited to apply their newly acquired knowledge and strategic skills to develop proposals for an international business.
After assessment of the proposals by the organizing committee, six finalist teams will be shortlisted to compete at the national International Trade Challenge competition in Ho Chi Minh City in July. The top three winning teams will then be selected to represent Vietnam at the regional final in Hong Kong in August where they will compete against other teams from Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
