FedEx Kicks off the Second-year of the “Adopt a School” Program
Shanghai, 20 October 2008
FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, yesterday announced it will continue cooperating with Hands On Shanghai, a non-profit organization promoting volunteerism, in the "Adopt a School" program which engages FedEx volunteers to provide educational support to Yufang Primary School, a migrant school located on the outskirts of Shanghai.
Since it was launched in September 2007, the "Adopt a School" program has attracted more than 100 FedEx employees in Shanghai to volunteer as mentors and tutors for the students of Yufang Primary School. Volunteers have dedicated more than 930 hours over the past year.
This year, in addition to the monthly one-on-one mentoring field trips, the program will see the addition of a badminton club with FedEx volunteers teaching the students to play badminton.
