TOKYO, Feb. 14, 2008 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, today announced the opening of the Shiga Kusatsu Station in Kusatsu City, Shiga prefecture.

The new station allows FedEx to reduce delivery times by up to one business day from certain parts of the prefecture. For example, shipments can be loaded on the same-day flight when called in before 1 p.m. (3 p.m. on Fridays) from the following places: Takatsuki-Cho in Ika County, Higashi Azai County, and certain areas in Maibara City and Nagahama City. The previous call-in cut-off time was 4 p.m. for the next-day flight.

In Echi County, Koura-Cho and Toyosato-Cho in Inukami County, Ryuo-Cho in Gamou County, Minakuchi-Cho in Kouka City, and Konan City, shipments are able to be loaded on the same-day flight by the call-in cut-off time of 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, the call-in cut-off time for the same-day flight has been extended by one hour to 5 p.m. for Ritto City, Kusatsu City and Otsu City (eastern area from Seta River).

Shiga Kusatsu Station has been opened in response to increased demand for air express services by manufacturers of vehicle and transport machine parts and products.

“The new Shiga Kusatsu facility is the fifth station we have opened in Japan in the last five months, reflecting the continued demand for our services and our commitment to our customers here,” said Jeremy Goldstrich, managing director for Japan Ground Operations, FedEx. “We remain committed to anticipating our customers’ needs and providing them the services they require to be successful.”

The other four stations FedEx has opened since June 2007 are in: Okayama City (Okayama prefecture); Nagaoka City (Niigata prefecture); Kameyama City (Mie prefecture); and, Sendai City (Miyagi prefecture).
