FedEx Provides Call Centre Support for BBC’s Children In Need
COVENTRY, 24 November, 2010— For the second year running, volunteers from FedEx UK and FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company and a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), have donated their services to help staff the FedEx Express Coventry call centre, an official donation line for the BBC’s Children in Need.
On 19 November, a team of more than 130 people took over 3000 donation calls, totalling more than £128,500 for the Children in Need extravaganza on BBC One, hosted by Sir Terry Wogan and Tess Daly. Across Britain, more than £18 million has been raised for Children in Need so far.
“Children in Need is an incredibly worthy cause, and we are all proud and privileged to dedicate our time in helping raise thousands of pounds for charity,” said Adam Koffler, managing director of Customer Experience for FedEx Express Northern Europe. “The event is a wonderful occasion for us as a company to be able to come together to take part in helping others. Staff from across the country have travelled to Coventry to get involved, and we are pleased that we have helped to raise such a substantial contribution.”
The event saw a number of different departments joining forces from customer service and couriers to finance and flight operations. The FedEx team held raffles throughout the night to raise money for Children In Need, as well as a fancy dress competition, cake sales and face painting. These activities helped raise an additional £1,200 locally in total for the charity.
