Six Students Selected to Represent Vietnam at 2015 FedEx/JA International Trade Challenge Asia Pacific Finals in Singapore
HO CHI MINH CITY, July 22, 2015 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, and Junior Achievement today announced the three teams of secondary school students that will represent Vietnam in the FedEx/ JA International Trade Challenge’s (FedEx/JA ITC) Asia-Pacific finals in Singapore from August 10 to 14, 2015.
Phan My An and Le Tan Phat of Hanoi-Amsterdam High School, Le Kim Bach and Ta Thuy Linh of Chu Van An High School, and Kieu Khoi Nguyen and Pham Viet Dung of Hanoi-Amsterdam High School were selected as the winners of Vietnam International Trade Challenge.
They emerged winners out of a total of 93 students in Vietnam who joined, of which six teams of two were shortlisted to advance to the local finals.
The finalist teams presented their plans and underwent a Q&A session before a judging panel composed of FedEx and Junior Achievement representatives who evaluated them on their market-entry strategies detailing marketing, promotion, pricing, inventory and product distribution. The judges selected the three Vietnam teams who will compete against 24 teams from eight other countries including Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and The Philippines.
The ITC program is designed to foster an entrepreneurial spirit in students by educating them about the fundamentals of business and global trade. Participants are tasked to submit market entry plans outlining strategies for inventory management, pricing, promotion and distribution of their products.
“As Vietnam’s economic growth is expected to be increasingly driven by global trade, the FedEx/JA International Trade Challenge has never been more meaningful and relevant. The ITC program provides aspiring young entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn first-hand about the fundamentals of business and gain insight about global trade,” said Nguyen Duy Binh, senior manager of Indochina and chief representative of FedEx Vietnam. “We hope this inspires them to dream big and unleash their entrepreneurial potential”.
“Since 2012, 343 Vietnamese students have enjoyed the opportunity to learn about business and trade in a very unique, hands-on way. Through our continued collaboration with FedEx, we hope to continue our efforts to support the educational development of budding entrepreneurs in Vietnam,” said Do Nam Thai, executive director of Junior Achievement Vietnam.
