FedEx Logistics Leadership: President and CEO, FedEx Logistics
Richard W. Smith is president and chief executive officer of Memphis-based FedEx Logistics, an integrated global logistics organization providing a wide variety of specialty supply chain, trade, and transportation solutions. In this role, he is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of FedEx Logistics.
FedEx Logistics provides a full suite of solutions for customers globally, including transportation and brokerage, time-critical and temperature-controlled delivery, cross border e-commerce enablement, forward logistics, fulfillment, repair, returns, and 3D printing services.
Smith joined FedEx in 2005. Immediately prior to his current role, he was senior vice president, global trade and specialty services, for FedEx Express. His FedEx career also includes a series of leadership positions in life sciences, healthcare, and customer solutions, including serving as vice president of global trade services and managing director of life sciences and specialty services.
He is currently the chairman of the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce and serves on its Chairman’s Circle Board. He is also a board member of Launch Tennessee, the Coalition of Services Industries, and Epicenter Memphis, a nonprofit organization that supports new and existing community entrepreneurs.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Smith earned his undergraduate degree from George Washington University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law.
